LaLiga Santander Frenchman furious with the lack of effort
Real Madrid‘s latest defeat to Rayo Vallecano left coach Zinedine Zidane furious, and the Frenchman said his players offered nothing from the first to last minute.
Karim Benzema, who has scored each of the last eight goals, was absent and, perhaps unsurprisingly, Madrid failed to find the net as they went down 1-0.
“We did nothing,” Zidane seethed after the game.
“Nothing at any level. Sometimes you can fail to score, but we didn’t do anything.
“I’m angry because it’s a bad look, and I’m responsible.”
Madrid‘s players showed no personality at Vallecas, which further riled Zidane.
“It was all bad,” he said.
“The attitude and the game.
“We gave nothing. Not in the duels, with running, with anything. Rayo played, but we did nothing.”
Usually quick to defend his players, Zidane had no problems pointing the finger of blame.
“I always defend my players, but not today,” he said.
“We can’t play like that, but I am also responsible.”
Gareth Bale started up top and offered very little, leading to questions about his commitment.
“I don’t know if Bale is focused,” Zidane said.
“You’ll have to ask him.”
