LaLiga Santander – Real Madrid Also talked about Mbappe and Varane
Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane discussed several French players on Saturday and has indicated that he is fond of the skills of the Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba.
Amid reports of Los Blancos’ interest in the France international, the 46-year-old tactician publicly hailed the quality of his compatriot.
“I like Pogba a lot and that’s not something new, as I know him personally,” he said at a press conference prior the game against Huesca.
“He is different and he contributes things that few can do, as he knows how to attack and defend.
“However, he is not my player and he is a Manchester United player and we have to respect that.
“He has always said that he liked Real Madrid, but especially Real Madrid, more than Zidane.”
Zidane also expressed his concern regarding the high prices in the transfer market, after being asked about Kylian Mbappe.
“We can’t say what Mbappe is worth, as that is something defined by the clubs,” he continued.
“When I arrived at Real Madrid the cost of my transfer was 70 million euros and it was crazy and now look where we are going.
“We know what a player he is, but he is not my player and I will not speak out of respect for my players and the clubs.”
Raphael Varane has reportedly informed Real Madrid about his intention to depart the club this summer, but his coach claimed that the 25-year-old defender is committed to his team.
“People can have their opinion and write what they want,” he noted.
“He has spent eight years here and he has been brilliant until now.
“I see that he is happy and committed and he is nothing like what has been talked about recently.”
