Barcelona In response to the unconvincing performances
Barcelona have changed their playing style in the last few years and some would argue that they have been transformed into having a results-driven mentality under Ernesto Valverde.
Wins are not coming, however, and the Blaugrana fans are noticing the team’s lack of creativity and entertaining football.
Barcelona fans have several questions that they want answered and we look at each of them below.
Since Tata Martino‘s spell at Barcelona, the team have lost their style of football and no one can define how the team play at the moment.
The Blaugrana have almost become just another football team, as their style is no longer so different to that of the rest of Europe’s elite clubs.
Two of the team’s best players can’t communicate with each other and spectators can notice it during Barcelona‘s games.
They either don’t look for each other, or they don’t see each other.
Or, even worse, they don’t want to see each other.
Whatever it is, this problem needs a solution.
Junior Firpo arrived as a player for both the future and the present after impressing with his performances at Real Betis and Spain’s U-21 side last season.
After Jordi Alba‘s injury, however, Valverde preferred to replace him with Nelson Semedo than give Junior the nod.
An explanation should be given about the Croatian’s case, even if it comes after his departure.
Rakitic went from being an undisputed starter last season to having Arturo Vidal ahead of him in Valverde‘s pecking order.
Barcelona have been hit by injuries this season, as most of their superstars including Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez, Jordi Alba and Ousmane Dembele, have been sidelined at some point.
Some of them have also had injury relapses.
Valverde‘s sides are usually stable in defence, but Barcelona have struggled so far this season to keep a clean sheet.
Barcelona are the team that run the least in their Champions League group, while they have covered 66.4 km less than Slavia Prague over the first four matchdays.
The Blaugrana don’t lack quality up front, but numbers indicate that they have scored fewer goals that half of the teams who have participated in the Champions League, as they have just four goals in four games.
The players’ physical condition is worrying and Sergio Busquets and Arthur Melo in particular can’t play the whole 90 minutes.
Both Semedo and Gerard Pique have agreed openly that Barcelona can’t go all the way to win the Champions League trophy if they continue performing as they do at the moment.
Fans have been wondering this as well, and they are concerned.
