Real Madrid A bonus of 150,000 for the players
Winning the Supercopa de Espana didn’t just give Real Madrid a morale boost, it also boosted the clubs coffers to the tune of 12 million euros.
The Spanish Football Federation had set such a bonus for winning the tournament, an amount far higher than was previously on offer in any other Supercopa.
As a result, Real Madrid have already received 47 million euros in prize money already this season, comprising of 12m euros from the Supercopa and 35m euros so far from the Champions League.
The Champions League amount is made up of 15m euros for taking part in the Group Stage, 10m euros for reaching the Round of 16, and another 10m euros for the three wins and two draws in the first six matches.
Victory in a single Champions League game pays 2.7m euros, and a draw at 900,000 euros.
So, the season isn’t going too badly for Real Madrid from an economic point of view, though the players get a 150,000 euro win bonus per head, which means just a third of the total can be taken by the club.
