Real Madrid Fans flocked to see them
Despite it being one of the most disappointing seasons in their history, Real Madrid managed to attract the largest attendances at away games in LaLiga Santander.
There were a total of 561,808 spectators (29,569 on average) when Real Madrid had to travel away from the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu.
The surprising team in second place was Real Sociedad, with an average attendance of 29,330, just 54 above Barcelona in a list where the top teams were very close together.
In fourth and fifth positions were Atletico Madrid and Sevilla respectively.
In terms of percentage of seats occupied in away games, the LaLiga champions fared better coming in first place at 88.67 percent, with their Clasico rivals coming in second with 87.02 percent.
At the other end of the scale, Leganes, Getafe, Alaves and Huesca were at the bottom of both lists, failing to attract their oppositions’ fans out in numbers whenever they played on the road.
The relegated north-east Spanish outfit had a collective away attendance total of 473,341 and just a 65.83 percent seat occupation when playing away.
