LaLiga Spanish forward not keen on return to London
Chelsea may well have issues of their own in attack, yet Alvaro Morata isn’t considering a return to Stamford Bridge, instead he sees the rest of his professional career at Atletico Madrid.
The former Real Madrid man joined Los Colchoneros in January on an initial loan move but he has made it clear that his intention is to become a permanent part of Diego Simeone’s squad.
On your future, are you afraid that Chelsea will recall you this summer? Is your continuity with Atletico 100 percent guaranteed?
“I have been clear that I want to be here. It’s not even in my head to leave this club. I want it to be resolved as soon as possible, I’m happy here, I want to be here for all the years I have left as a professional. As long as the people love me and are happy with my work, I want to be here. I have found happiness here, I’m where I want to be.”
In fact, would you like the transfer to be made permanent soon?
“If it was down to me, I would have done so a long time ago. It’s what I want, but there are contract matters. We can’t do anything. If it was solely down to me, I would have signed my contract with Atletico. I did everything possible to come here and I will do my best to stay.”
What separates Simeone from other coaches you’ve worked with?
“In the end, he has many qualities which everyone knows about. His character is so important, it makes you give everything and brings out the best in you. He has the balance of being a good person and someone you can joke with about things other than football. He has the perfect balance. He protects his players and is tactically one of the best.”
