Abrams Artists Agency has come on board as the premier sponsor.
The Independent Television Festival is getting a new name and a new sponsor.
Now known as the Catalyst Content Festival, the annual event, which began in 2006, has taken on a premier sponsor in Abrams Artists Agency. In addition to financially sponsoring Catalyst Fest for five years, Abrams is pledging to mentor and represent top festival winners.
It’s a significant commitment for the agency that has been under new ownership since last September. “Technology has made it possible for talented people from all over the world to tell diverse, meaningful stories,” said Abrams chairman Adam Bold, who owns the agency alongside Robert Attermann and Brian Cho, in a statement. “Catalyst Fest provides a way for artists of all levels to get their new works seen by the industry, and we are in the unique position of being able to take that a step further by then fostering their careers in a way that will help them make a living bringing their art into the world.”
Submissions for Pitching, Pilots, Episodic Script and New Media (such as podcasts) can be made through June 1. This year’s Catalyst Fest will take place Oct. 9-13 in Duluth, Minn., its new long-term home.
“Abrams’ powerful support of our longstanding global community of storytelling artists will launch the world’s best independent voices to the forefront of the industry,” Catalyst Fest executive director Philip Gilpin Jr. said in a statement. “Lowering the barriers for creators, the industry and audiences to come together to share their stories in a more impactful way will have a substantial impact on today’s ever-changing digital marketplace.”
