LaLiga Three from the backline score
Spain made light work of the Faroe Islands to make it three wins from three in Group F of UEFA Euro 2020 Qualifying.
La Roja set out with an attacking formation but it was the defenders who would end up grabbing the headlines.
Spain once again showed that one of their great strengths is by playing down the flanks. Jesus Navas and Jose Gaya occupied the full-back spots and took advantage of the space they were allowed, with each scoring. And with Sergio Ramos’ header, it was the first time in La Roja history that three defenders scored in the same game.
Alvaro Morata did not seem to get off the plane. He barely touched the ball throughout the match and it was the defenders who had to carry the team forward. The Atletico Madrid striker, who had scored two at Malta, was more absent than ever in attack.
The Spanish team dedicated the goals to the late Jose Antonio Reyes, two of whom were his teammates at Sevilla in Sergio Ramos and Jesus Navas.
