Barcelona There is an offer from PSG
Barcelona’s chances of signing Matthijs de Ligt seem to have reduced, with the Dutch centre-back’s representatives having met with Paris Saint-Germain.
Staff at the Camp Nou have been demoralised by the latest developments in the quest for the 19-year-old’s signature and are less and less sure of him coming to Catalonia.
His future is still a huge unknown and nothing concrete has changed, but his agent Mino Raiola‘s conversations with PSG have diminished Barcelona‘s optimism, even if they’re not completely giving up hope.
Barcelona cannot increase the offer they made to the player one month ago to compete with PSG, nor can they guarantee De Ligt the minutes he wants.
De Ligt, though, knew all of this when his people spoke with Barcelona before.
What has happened is that his rapid progression has encouraged other clubs to seriously join the race and PSG have launched an offensive for him, while Juventus and some English and German teams are also keen.
