College baseball players put on skates and played ice baseball – MLB.com

With the college baseball season starting this week, teams are doing all they can to squeeze in some final preseason practice. But what if your field is covered in snow and ice like Central Michigan’s Kelly Shorts Stadium? Well, then you strap on the ice skates, grab your glove and get all the drills in. 

Sophomore Chase Rollin captured the video, and it looks like a ton of fun. 

There is actually a long history of baseball being played on ice. It was a popular winter sport in the 19th century, with some pockets of play lasting into the 1920s as this video attests:
