Real Madrid vs Celta Was Zidane’s first substitution
Real Madrid‘s decision to bring Zinedine Zidane back to the club is one that has been backed by Dani Ceballos, despite his comments to the contrary in the past.
The Frenchman returned to the job just 10 months, with Madrid dismissing Santiago Solari after a week in which Los Blancos were essentially eliminated from three competitions: the Copa del Rey, LaLiga Santander and the Champions League.
Zidane kickstarted his second spell in charge with a 2-0 win over Celta Vigo, and Ceballos discussed the victory afterwards.
“The change of the coach seems to have worked,” he said.
“We have recovered the ambiance and have picked up the three points that we wanted.
“We are clear that our goal now is to win all of the games that we have left and to finish as high as possible.
“Isco and [Gareth] Bale did well. They are two key players and will be important for us, like the other 25 guys.”
Although the midfielder found chances to be limited during Zidane‘s first spell at the club, he is more upbeat about his opportunities going forward.
“You have to respect the coach’s decisions and be focussed on your job until the end of the season,” Ceballos concluded.
“When I went on, he told me just to play and to enjoy myself.
“He gave me confidence by introducing me as his first change when it was 1-0.”
