Copa America 2019 Facing serious allegations
In light of ongoing investigations, Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) vice president Francisco Noveletto has questioned Neymar‘s participation in this summer’s Copa America which is set to start on June 14.
The Paris Saint-Germain star is the subject of rape allegations in Paris, claims that he emphatically refutes.
“If Neymar plays, Brazil are capable of missing out,” Noveletto said to SBT.
“I know the press will be on top of him. There are many more things to appear.
“A friend of mine from Rio de Janeiro told me that there’s another video to be launched.”
The woman’s identity has not been made known, but it is believed to be a 26-year-old Brazilian model.
“If I had to bet, I’d bet that he won’t play in the Copa America,” Noveletto added.
“He’s not in the psychological condition to play in the Copa America and to face journalists.”
According to the vice president, his removal from the squad won’t be a decision left to coach Tite, but will be one that the player himself reaches.
“If he doesn’t play, everyone wins,” Noveletto said, though clarifying that his opinion was just his own and not necessarily shared by the CBF.
CBF president Rogerio Caboclo was quick to speak in defence of his player.
“We have total confident in Neymar,” Caboclo said.
“We know the person he is, the man he is and the athlete he is.
“We have total confidence that everything will be clarified as soon as possible.”
