Brazilian PC and smartphone manufacturer Positivo Tecnologia reported a net profit of BRL 2.0 million in the first quarter of 2018, reversing the loss of BRL 8.3 million recorded in the same period last year. Net revenue was BRL 429.7 million, down on the BRL 455.3 million from Q1 2017. Adjusted EBITDA fell 20.1 percent to BRL 23.1 million, with a margin of 4.8 percent (-2.5%).
The company’s PCs sales in Brazil totaled 228,000 units, up 61.9 percent, surpassing market growth. The good volumes in Q1 guaranteed an increase in the company’s market share, which reached 17.0 percent (+4.3%), according to IDC. Sales of mobile phones contracted by 42.7 percent in volume, to 281,900 units, reducing market share. The company continued with the deliveries of digital TV decoders, with a total volume of 501,300 units in the quarter. These devices were delivered to Seja Digital, which is responsible for the distribution of set-top decoders to the population under the analog-to-digital migration in Brazil.
